4 African startups selected for Y Combinator accelerator S22 batch

Four African startups have been selected to participate in the Silicon Valley Y Combinator accelerator programme among a total of 156 startups already confirmed from different regions.  

  • The confirmed startups are Nigeria's fintech startup Pivo, Chowdeck, a Nigerian food delivery platform, Kenyan payments platform, Patika, and Ghanaian auto parts distribution service, Garage Mobility.
  • Each startup will receive up to $500,000 as part of the accelerator deal, alongside a three-month of shaping and refining of participants' pitches to be investment-worthy.
  • 24 African startups participated in the W22 batch, Y Combinator's previous edition.
  • African startups such as Flutterwave, Paystack, Kobo360, Cowrywise, MarketForce, Kudi, WorkPay, and CredPal among others have participated in the renowned accelerator programme.
