Amazon said it is shutting down Amazon Distribution, its wholesale distribution business in India, the latest in a series of divestment in a market where it has deployed over $7 billion in the last decade.

- Amazon Distribution is a wholesale e-commerce website available to small neighbourhood stores in Bengaluru, Mysore and Hubli.
- The business was designed to help kiranas, the neighbourhood stores in India, pharmacies and department stores secure inventory from the e-commerce giant.
- The company did not state when it'd be officially closing the business, but a company spokesperson said it'd be done in a "phased manner to take care of current customers and partners".
- The move follows Amazon's recent decision [to close down its food delivery arm](https://www.techloy.com/amazon-to-shut-down-food-delivery-arm-in-india/) and its online learning platform Academy, in a bid to restructure its global business. The move will likely result in job cuts and the elimination of some roles in India.
