In the upcoming [Android 16](https://www.techloy.com/tag/android-16/), Google is introducing a security feature called Intrusion Logging. Think of it as an audit log for your phone, or a "black box" flight recorder for your digital life.

Unlike traditional security tools that try to block attacks, this new system gives you receipts. It creates an audit log of key events, giving you undeniable proof if your device has been compromised.

If a hacker or a snooping partner breaks into your phone, Android 16 tracks the evidence. It keeps a detailed record of specific activities over a set period, including:

- **Screen activity:** When the device was unlocked or used.
- **App installations:** Any new apps that appear (especially the hidden ones).
- **Network activity:** Device connections and parts of your browsing history.

[Google](https://www.techloy.com/tag/google/) stores these logs securely with end-to-end encryption, and they are automatically deleted after 12 months, so you don't have to worry about them clogging up your storage forever.

## How to Enable Intrusion Logging on Android 16

### **1.** **Check your Android Version**

This feature is currently rolling out only on devices running Android 16 (like the OnePlus Pad 3 and some Pixel devices). If you are still on Android 14 or 15, you’ll need to wait for your system update.

### **2.** **Open your Settings app**

- Open your Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on Security & Privacy.

### **3\. Find Device Protection**

- Look for Set up Device Protection.
- Inside, you will see the option for Intrusion Logging.

### **4\. Toggle it on**

- Switch the toggle to enable it.
- *Note:* You can choose to skip this during the initial setup, but we recommend turning it on for maximum security.

### **5\. Review your data**

Once enabled, the feature runs silently in the background. If you ever suspect foul play, you can return to this menu to view or download the encrypted logs and see exactly what happened to your device.

Google has designed this to be efficient. The logs are encrypted and only accessible by you or a trusted account. Plus, you can't manually delete them early (to prevent a hacker from covering their tracks), but they will self-destruct after a year.
