This Mexican fintech has launched its own crypto debit card

Mexican crypto exchange Bitso has launched the Bitso Card, a payment product in partnership with Mastercard to provide secure financial access in Mexico, several months after announcing the collaboration.

Bitso Card is a payment method that lets users pay using their Mexican peso balance. The card has both digital and physical versions and can be used in any type of shop, both within and outside of Mexico.

Despite launching in Mexico, the crypto debit card will have worldwide utility. Holders of the card will be able to use it in over 90 million Mastercard-affiliated stores globally and offer special rewards at popular stores like Uber, Mercado Libre, and Cinépolis.

In launching the card, Bitso joins Mastercard’s portfolio of partnerships with crypto companies in Latin America, which includes Binance, Belo and Buenbit. Latin American fintech Taurus had also launched a debit card for its Mexican customers in partnership with VISA.

In addition to Mexico where it started, Bitso also operates in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, with a total of more than 6 million users and 1,500 institutional clients.
