Carousell acquires Indonesian recommerce platform Laku6 for $25 million

Carousell, an online classified marketplace operator based in Singapore has acquired Laku6, an Indonesian recommerce platform in a $25 million deal.

  • The acquisition is targeted at boosting sales for the firm in the second-hand phone market.
  • Heliconia Capital, a Temasek-backed investment firm supported Carousell in buying the recommerce platform.
  • Founded in 2016, Laku6 allows users to trade devices and uses a technology tool for phone diagnosis in under two minutes, with a record of over 500,000 mobile phones processed to date.  
  • Since its launch in 2012, Carousell has evolved from being a marketplace to buy and sell lifestyle products to a company dealing in property and automotive listings.
