Elon Musk Announces a Major Purge of Bots and Trolls on 𝕏

Elon Musk, the CEO of 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), has declared war on bots and trolls.

This announcement, made with typical Musk style on social media shows the 𝕏's ongoing battle against bots on the platform has affected user experience and advertiser confidence.

A report from CHEQ suggests that approximately 75.85% of traffic from Elon Musk's 𝕏 to advertising clients' websites during the Super Bowl weekend was fake.

Musk's strategy is not only targeting the immediate removal of bot and troll accounts but also signals the taking of legal action against those behind bot activities on the platform.

This move comes on the heels of mounting criticism regarding the platform's handling of bot activities and the reduction of genuine interaction by bot-driven content. 

In recent months, the platform has seen a surge in bot accounts, some of which have managed to secure verification status.

Twitter (now 𝕏) has announced that it is testing a new subscription program called “Not A Bot” that it hopes would reduce spam and bot activity on its platform. Starting October 17, 2023, new unverified users in New Zealand and the Philippines will be required to verify their phone numbers and
