Flutterwave enables Google Pay for African businesses

Flutterwave, a pan-African fintech with a payment infrastructure reaching 34 African countries has announced the addition of Google Pay, as a new payment method available on its platform for merchants and businesses in Africa.

  • With this development, Google Pay will serve as an additional payment option for merchants on Flutterwave business and further promote safe and seamless payments, including a frictionless checkout experience for customers.
  • Google Pay is an easy payment option for online purchases. It has a tap-to-pay feature that enables users to pay by tapping where the option is accepted. It works with Google Wallet, a secure and private digital wallet that lets users quickly access payment cards, passes, tickets, or IDs stored on it.
  • Google Pay is compatible with Android smartphones, tablets and watches. Through the collaboration with Flutterwave, Google Pay users in supported countries can now pay businesses on Flutterwave across Africa.
  • Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave CEO and founder describes the collaboration as a testament to the startup's growth and commitment to building a platform with simplified payments for all. The CEO adds that the Google Pay payment option will attract international customers and increase the success rates of merchants on Flutterwave.
