There was a time I thought pop-ups were nothing but annoying spam traps—and to be fair, a lot of them were. But then I tried signing into my school's portal, which uses a pop-up for its login screen, and [Chrome](https://www.techloy.com/tag/google-chrome/) silently blocked it. I sat there clicking, wondering why nothing worked, until I realized the browser wasn’t broken—it was just doing what it was told: blocking pop-ups by default.

The thing is, not all pop-ups are bad. Some are necessary for websites to function properly, whether it's opening a support chat window, loading a document preview, or launching a payment form. If you find yourself running into issues with buttons that don’t seem to work or windows that never open, there's a good chance Chrome's pop-up blocker is getting in the way.

Thankfully, you can easily allow pop-ups on your Chrome browser. Here are the steps.

## **Steps to Allow Pop-ups on All Sites**

### **Step 1: Open Chrome and click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner**

### **Conclusion**

Pop-ups have come a long way from the days of sketchy ads and auto-playing nonsense. While Chrome does a solid job protecting users by blocking them automatically, there are plenty of legitimate reasons you might want to allow pop-ups.

So don’t think of enabling pop-ups as a security risk by default—it’s more about control. Thankfully, Chrome gives you the tools to manage your settings based on your browsing needs. Whether you allow them across the board or just in moments when you need full access, knowing how to adjust pop-up settings puts you back in charge of your experience.
