# How to Clear a Conversation in Snapchat

We all know that [Snapchat](https://www.techloy.com/tag/snap/) deletes messages every 24 hours by default, but there's more to managing your chat history than meets the eye. Most people are aware that you can clear a chat from the chat feed, but did you know that this isn't the same as clearing the entire conversation? 

When you clear a chat from the feed, it simply removes it from view, but the conversation remains intact. If the person sends you another message, the chat reappears with all the previous messages still there. 

However, when you clear the conversation, you're deleting everything in the chat, making it a more thorough cleanup. Until recently, I wasn't even aware of this feature, but once I discovered it, I realized how useful it could be for decluttering and saving space on my device. Let's dive into how you can clear entire conversations in Snapchat.

Quick answer: Open Snapchat, go to your Profile, tap Settings, scroll to Privacy Controls and select "Clear Data," then "Clear Conversations." Tap the X next to any chat to delete it completely, not just remove it from view.

## **Steps to Clear a Conversation on Snapchat**

### **Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your device. Navigate to the Profile screen by tapping on your profile icon in the top-left corner**

### **Step 2: In the Profile screen, tap the Settings button**
