Indian streaming platform JioHotstar said it is raising subscription prices and would introduce new payment options starting January 28, 2026\.

Under the new structure, [JioHotstar](https://www.techloy.com/tag/jio/) introduced a monthly Mobile tier at ₹79 ($0.93). The quarterly and annual plan for the mobile tier stays the same. The platform also added a new monthly option for Super tier at ₹149 ($1.64). However, the quarterly Super moves up from ₹299 ($3.26) to ₹349 (3.81) and the annual Super plan climbs from ₹899 ($10.60) to ₹1,099 ($13).

For the Premium tier, the monthly plan remains the same, while the quarterly plan has increased from ₹499 ($5.45) to ₹699 ($7.69). The annual Premium plan sees the steepest jump, rising from ₹1,499 ($17.70) to ₹2,199 ($26).

The company said the updated pricing is intended to cater both to individuals streaming on mobile devices and to families seeking premium entertainment experiences on connected TVs.

The head of SVOD business and CMO at JioStar, Sushant Sreeram said, “As we continue building India’s most expansive and inclusive entertainment ecosystem it’s important that our subscription choices keep pace with how audience want to watch.”

Sreeram noted the update supports “long-term investments in premium storytelling” and live sports.

This announcement comes after JioHotstar said it crossed one billion downloads on Google Play serving over 450 million monthly active users across 100% of India’s pin codes.

With a library exceeding 300,000 hours of content, spanning multiple languages and genres, JioHotstar is one of the biggest streaming platforms in the country. This price hike mirrors similar moves by other streamers, including [Disney+ and Hulu](https://www.techloy.com/disney-and-hulu-raise-prices-yet-again-this-october/), who last year announced they were raising the cost of subscriptions.

Under the new structure, Hollywood content is now locked behind the Super and Premium tiers. Mobile subscribers must purchase a separate add-on to access this library, allowing viewers to customise their subscriptions based on personal preferences. The company also said existing subscribers with active auto-renewal will retain their current pricing as long as it is on auto-renew.
