Meta to label all images created by AI on Facebook and Instagram

Users can now differentiate between real photos and AI-generated ones, thanks to a new feature coming to Meta's platforms in the coming months.

Before now Meta had been placing "Imagined with AI" labels on photorealistic images created using its own AI feature, and is now building "industry-leading tools" that will allow it to label images generated by artificial intelligence from other sites such as Google, OpenAI, Microsoft or Adobe.

Meta says it plans to allow people to disclose when they are sharing AI-generated content so the company can add a label to it.
