# Nintendo is ditching X (formerly Twitter) integration from its gaming console

Nintendo Switch players will no longer be able to post directly to X via the gaming console, as Nintendo is getting rid of its X integration with Switch.

This comes after [Microsoft's Xbox](https://www.techloy.com/microsoft-is-launching-an-xbox-mobile-gaming-store/) and [Sony's PlayStation](https://www.techloy.com/playstation-5-sold-30-million-units-in-two-years/) discontinued their integration with X in April and November last year.

Now, starting June 10, 2024, players won't be able to post screenshots and videos to X from the Nintendo Switch's album or send friend requests to social media users via the "Friend Suggestions" feature, according to an official post on X made by Nintendo of America.

In a more detailed [post](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a%5Fid/65057) on its website, Nintendo confirmed that while these features will no longer be available, players can still use the "Friend Suggestions" feature from smart devices, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U, and other services such as posting features in the Nintendo Switch title Splatoon 3 and the Nintendo Switch title Splatoon 2 will be adjusted.

Presently, Nintendo hasn't released an official message as to why it decided to end its Switch integration with X. However, going by what we know, it might be because of Elon Musk's API fee hike (around $42,000 a month), which forced companies like Microsoft to end its integration with the social media platform.
