As music lovers, we've all been in those moments where we wish we could just tell our music player exactly what we want to hear. Whether you're lounging on the couch or prepping for a party, being able to control your playlist with just your voice is incredibly convenient.

Well, [Spotify](https://www.techloy.com/tag/spotify/) has just introduced a new feature that allows you to talk to its AI DJ. Spotify's AI DJ has always been a neat feature for Premium users since its launch in February 2023\. It curates playlists based on your listening history and mixes in both new and old songs.

The AI even announces the songs and gives you some fun facts. But until now, it was mostly a passive experience—you could skip songs, but that was about it. Now, Spotify is letting you talk to your DJ.

[Spotify users can now ask Gemini to play their favourite music on AndroidsThis only works on Android, through the Gemini and Spotify apps. It’s not available yet for iPhone, the Gemini web app, or Google Messages.![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/a6/c1a6d111-d951-41ad-a392-c1e841210b93/content/images/icon/techloy-avatar-1-1866.png)TechloyEmmanuel Oyedeji![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/a6/c1a6d111-d951-41ad-a392-c1e841210b93/content/images/thumbnail/photo-1582559578249-eea585181220-1-1.jpeg)](https://www.techloy.com/spotify-users-can-now-ask-gemini-to-play-their-favourite-music-on-android/)

You can ask for specific songs, genres, or even moods. For example, if you need some morning motivation, just tell the DJ, "Give me some dance-pop vibes," and it'll play something like *LISA's* energetic tracks. Or if you're feeling nostalgic, you can say, *“*Play 2010s Afrobeats*”,* and it might throw in one of *Dbanj's* hit songs.

To use this new feature, you'll need to:

- Subscribe to Spotify Premium and live in one of the 60 regions where the AI DJ is available. If those two requirements are met, open Spotify and search for "DJ", then play the AI DJ playlist.
- Afterwards, press and hold the DJ button in the right-hand corner, listen for a beep, and place your request with your voice.

With over 250 million Premium users worldwide (according to *Statista*), Spotify is making sure that a large portion of its user base can enjoy this new level of interactivity.

[Apple Music](https://www.techloy.com/tag/apple-music/) and [Amazon Music](https://www.techloy.com/tag/amazon-music/) also offer personalized playlists, but they haven't quite reached this level of interactivity. Apple Music's For You playlist, for example, uses algorithms to suggest music, but doesn't have a voice-activated interaction.

While competitors are still catching up, Spotify seems to be setting a new standard for what a music streaming service can be.
