CHART: Less than 7% of SMEs in Africa use digital technologies for their businesses

Access to the Internet in Africa has not translated into comparable increases in the use of digital technologies by small businesses, according to new research from IFC-World Bank.

A survey of 3,325 microenterprises in seven African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania, found that less than 7% of these businesses use smartphones and computers for their operations, with 71% saying they see no need for them.
