  • South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Khumbudzo Ntshavheni as the country's new Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, replacing Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams.
  • Ghana's Central Bank has issued pan-African fintech company Cellulant a Payment Services Provider (PSP) license, allowing it to aggregate merchant services, process financial services, acquire merchants, deploy POS systems, and aggregate payments.
  • Chinese technology company Huawei says it generated 320.4 billion yuan (~$50 billion) in revenue in the first half of 2021, a significant fall from the 454 billion yuan (~$70 billion) it recorded in the first half of 2020.
