Togo’s internet penetration rate in 2019

Togo, a small West African country with a population of over 8 million has witnessed significant growth in its internet penetration within the past 5 years, despite the country’s shutting down access to the Internet in September 2017.

The growth, which was largely driven by new entrants into the market, improved internet access by existing players, and the expansion of mobile internet services, sees Togo’s internet subscribers increase from 550,000 users in 2016 to 1.71 million users in 2019.

In this Techloy chart, we take a look at how the country’s internet penetration rate grew from a meagre 7% back in 2016 to reach 21% in 2019, representing an average growth rate of 7.8% per annum over the period.

Techloy further projects that Togo’s internet penetration would reach about 30% by the end of 2020, based on its average annual growth rate over the past five years.
