Elon Musk-owned Microblogging platform, Twitter suffered a two-hour long downtime on Wednesday as many users faced issues such as loading and retweeting posts on the timeline and responding to messages.

*Update: The service is now back and running.*

This was confirmed by Downdetector.com, a platform that monitors outages. According to the report, the number of outages reported for the social media site spiked around 10AM GMT and has grown rapidly.

Meanwhile it is still unclear what caused the outage, but this development follows Twitter's latest round of layoffs over the weekend, cutting 10% of its remaining workforce including employees in the ads and infrastructure engineering department, which saw its workforce strength fall from 7,500 before Musk's acquisition to around 2,000 now.

This is not the first case of a downtime since Elon Musk's $44 billion take over. The social media site has had several instances of reported outages and slow load times in the past couple of months.
