If your [PC](https://www.techloy.com/tag/pc-2/) audio sounds unclear, distorted or too quiet, the problem may not be your headphones or network. A few simple tweaks can improve your PC’s audio quality, making it clearer, richer and more detailed.

**Step 1:** On your keyboard, press **Windows + R** to open the Run dialog box.

**Step 2:** Type **mmsys.cpl** into the box and press **Enter**. This opens the Sound Control Panel.

**Step 3:** From the list of playback devices, right-click the **Speakers** option.

**Step 4:** In the new window, switch to the **Advanced** tab.

**Step 5:** Under **Default Format**, click the dropdown menu and select the highest available **Studio Quality**, then click **OK**.
