WhatsApp, the Meta-owned messaging giant, has challenged the Indian government in a legal battle over its end-to-end encryption technology. 

This clash arises from Indian government directives of the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules 2021, which mandate message tracing, a policy that contradicts WhatsApp's user privacy rights.
