If you are a WhatsApp user in Europe, you will need to agree to newly introduced terms and conditions starting April 11, 2024, to keep using the service.

The new terms provides more details on various aspects of using WhatsApp, covering various aspects such as usage guidelines. They also clarify the process of sending messages to third-party apps, as the EU through the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act has mandated that WhatsApp opens itself up to third-party chats.

Additionally, the update details how channel features, like reporting inappropriate content and appealing moderation decisions function within the platform. Users will need to comply with the new WhatsApp policy before April 11 or have their accounts suspended.

One thing remains constant, WhatsApp assures users that end-to-end encryption for messages and calls will not be affected by these updates. So, your private conversations will continue to be protected.

The update reflects the ever-shifting regulatory landscape for tech companies operating in Europe.
