"We wanted flying cars, instead we got 7 Twitter clones" was how former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey took aim at Threads, the latest 'iteration' of Twitter.

This sentiment has been echoed by many since Threads launched on Thursday, which appears to be another Twitter-doppelganger app owned by Meta.

But with arguably the fastest-growing userbase of any app ever ā€“ over 50 million sign-ups in 24 hours ā€“ it seems that Threads might have a chance at taking on Twitter in the microblogging race.
