Employees at Bethesda Game Studios' headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, were reportedly instructed by Human Resources to remove a small memorial honoring colleagues laid off in Xbox's latest round of job cuts, according to the Bethesda Game Studios Union.

The incident comes just days after Microsoft began another major round of job cuts across its gaming division, affecting thousands of employees and leading to canceled projects, studio restructuring, and layoffs across several first-party developers, including Bethesda-owned studios.

Photos shared by the Bethesda Game Studios Union on social media show what employees described as a modest "Celebration of Service" display featuring printed photographs of laid-off developers. The memorial was intended to recognize coworkers who had contributed to the studio before losing their jobs during the latest restructuring.

But the union says the display remained in place for only a short time before it was removed.
