PlayStation officially kicked off the Summer Game Fest season with its June 2026 State of Play, and Sony came prepared.

From the long-awaited return of Marvel's Wolverine to the surprise unveiling of a brand-new God of War adventure centered around Laufey, the showcase delivered blockbuster reveals, unexpected revivals, fresh gameplay deep dives, and enough release dates to make September look like one of the busiest months in recent gaming history.

While PlayStation fans expected updates on a few major projects, the event also threw in several curveballs, including a sequel to Until Dawn, the return of Rayman, a new Tomb Raider remake, and a revival of the cult-classic Stuntman franchise.

If you missed the show, here's everything announced during PlayStation's State of Play June 2026.

Everything Coming in PlayStation Days of Play 2026: Games, PS Plus Bonuses, Tournaments, and Huge Discounts
PlayStation Days of Play 2026 begins today and here is everything coming.

God of War: Laufey Steals the Show

The biggest reveal of the night was undoubtedly God of War: Laufey.

Santa Monica Studio opened the doors to an entirely new perspective within the God of War universe, putting players in control of Faye, Kratos' wife, and Atreus' mother. The extended gameplay presentation showed Laufey navigating what appears to be a mythological afterlife, facing powerful gods from different pantheons who are less than thrilled about her presence.

The game seems poised to expand the God of War lore in ways fans have only speculated about, while also giving one of the series' most important characters her moment in the spotlight.

Adding to the surprise was the confirmation that actress Deborah Ann Woll returns as Faye, alongside a bizarre but memorable talking gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid.

If there was one game that defined this State of Play, it was this.

Marvel's Wolverine Looks Brutal and Uncompromising

Insomniac Games opened the showcase with a fresh gameplay look at Marvel's Wolverine, and it immediately established a very different tone from the studio's Spider-Man series.

The footage showcased Logan's brutal combat style, emphasizing visceral action, blood-soaked encounters, and a more focused, linear adventure structure. Fans also got a glimpse of Jean Grey, further fueling speculation about the game's connection to the wider X-Men universe.

The presentation made one thing clear: this isn't Spider-Man with claws. It's a distinctly Wolverine experience.

Until Dawn 2 Is Real

Perhaps one of the evening's most unexpected reveals was Until Dawn 2.

Developed by Firesprite, the sequel shifts the action to a tropical island where a group of ghost hunters finds themselves trapped in a nightmare involving a mysterious slasher-like killer.

The original Until Dawn became a cult favorite for its choice-driven horror storytelling, and fans finally have a reason to return to the franchise when the sequel launches in 2027.

Classic Franchises Make a Comeback

One of the biggest themes of the showcase was revival.

Several beloved franchises made surprise appearances, including:

  • Stuntman Hollywood, a modern revival of the classic stunt-driving series.
  • Rayman Legends Retold, bringing Ubisoft's iconic platforming hero back into the spotlight.
  • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake that reimagines Lara Croft's earliest adventure for modern audiences.

Of the three, Tomb Raider may have generated the most excitement. The gameplay shown highlighted significantly improved controls and visuals, addressing many of the frustrations players associate with the original releases.

The game launches on February 12, 2027.

New Worlds, New Studios

Sony also used the showcase to highlight several original projects.

/1. Kemuri

Created by Unseen Games, the studio founded by industry veteran Ikumi Nakamura, Kemuri is a stylish three-player action game centered on hunting supernatural yokai. Its distinctive visual style immediately helped it stand out among the evening's announcements.

/2. The Lost Wild

For dinosaur fans, The Lost Wild offered a tense blend of stealth gameplay and prehistoric survival. Details remain limited, but its atmosphere and presentation suggest it could become one of the more intriguing releases to watch.

/3. ILL

Horror fans were treated to another disturbing look at ILL, a grotesque survival horror experience scheduled for 2027. It's uncomfortable, unsettling, and appears determined to push body horror to new extremes.

September 2026 Is Becoming Crowded

If there was one takeaway beyond the reveals themselves, it's that September is shaping up to be absolutely packed. Several major titles received release dates during the showcase, including:

  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword — September 25
  • Control Resonant — September 24
  • Silent Hill: Townfall — September 24
  • Dune: Awakening — September 22
  • Phantom Blade Zero — September release window

For players, the challenge may not be deciding what to play, but finding enough time to play everything.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Adds More Villains

The latest look at Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls introduced several iconic villains, including:

  • Doctor Doom
  • Magneto
  • Carnage
  • Green Goblin

The fighting game continues to build momentum ahead of its August 6 launch and looks set to become one of Marvel's most ambitious multiplayer projects.
