Google has begun rolling out Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 to Pixel users in the Android Beta Program. This is coming after the Beta 1.1 hotfix that focused mainly on app-crash stability.

Testers on Reddit communities have confirmed that the update resolves at least a dozen distinct system problems, including critical crashes and charging failures. For the first time in the QPR beta cycle, this update feels less like a test-bed for new ideas and more like the groundwork for a stable quarterly release.

Google Fixes Pixel Display Issues and Battery Drain with January 2026 update
Google’s first major Pixel update of 2026 is to fix Pixel 10 screen flickering and battery drain in it

This Android 16 QPR3 Beta comes with the following fixes:

  • Battery and charging behaviour: The fix now respects the user-set charging limit, instead of going all the way to 100%, ignoring the charging limit. Also, the overnight battery drain issues have been fixed through optimised background power management.
  • Charging stability: Both wired and wireless charging glitches that caused inconsistent speeds or failures in prior builds have been addressed.
  • Connectivity issues: Slow Wi-Fi performance and problems with call reliability have been fixed, improving the general network experience.
  • UI glitches: Flickering or strange display behaviour when pulling down the notification shade, and other visual bugs are resolved.
  • Notification and Do Not Disturb fixes: Delayed, missing, or duplicated notifications have been corrected, and Do Not Disturb mode now consistently applies to calls, messages, and media playback.
  • Media and audio improvements: Issues with audio cutouts, particularly when using headphones or Bluetooth speakers, have been resolved, ensuring smoother playback.
  • Minor stability and security patches: Various low-level fixes improve overall system reliability, reduce rare crashes, and enhance the general performance of the device.

These fixes suggest the Android team is shifting away from Betas that introduce new behaviour, such as Beta 1’s torch and UI tweaks and focusing instead on making the platform more predictable and stable.
