Highguard, the free-to-play hero shooter video game from Wildlight Entertainment, is shutting down permanently on March 12, 2026, less than two months after its launch on January 26. Despite reaching 2 million players, developer Wildlight Entertainment said the game couldn’t sustain a long-term player base.

“Since launch, more than 2 million players stepped into Highguard’s world. You shared feedback, created content, and many believed in what we were building. For that, we are deeply grateful,” Wildlight said in a post on X, Tuesday night.

“Despite the passion and hard work of our team, we have not been able to build a sustainable player base to support the game long term.”
