Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ vs. Tecno Spark 40 Pro+: Which Budget Phone Should You Buy?

Shopping for a smartphone can be tedious, especially when you're trying to balance budget with decent specs. With inflation pushing prices up and the value of money dropping, it’s getting harder to find a solid phone without overspending. A Samsung S21 that sold for ₦200,000 last year is no longer accessible at that price.

This shift has more buyers geared toward budget phones that can still handle everyday tasks. That’s why new budget releases like the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ and Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ are getting more attention.

Recently launched in Nigeria, both offer large displays, solid cameras, and capable MediaTek chipsets without the high price tag. They’re built for people who need a phone that handles everyday use without burning through their savings.
But if you're stuck choosing between the two, which one delivers better value? Let’s break it down.

Infinix Smart 10 Plus vs. Tecno Spark 40: Which Budget-Friendly Phone Should You Buy?
It really comes down to what matters more to you: longer battery life, or less downtime.

1. Design & Display

Both phones come with large 6.78-inch displays running at 144Hz, paired with 1.5K resolution on AMOLED screens. But while they’re close in numbers, Infinix edges ahead in design finesse.

The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ features a 3D curved AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and an ultra-thin profile measuring just 5.95mm. That makes it the world’s slimmest 3D-curved smartphone. Combined with its lightweight 155g build and Eye-Care Display tech, the Hot 60 Pro+ feels more premium in hand despite the budget price.

On the other side, the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ also sports an ultra-thin design but comes in slightly thicker at 6.49mm. While that’s still slim by most standards, it doesn’t quite match Infinix in terms of sleekness or visual appeal.

2. Performance & Software

In terms of performance, both smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Helio G200 chipset, built on a 6nm process, paired with Mali-G57 MC2 graphics. Both also run on Android 15, so day-to-day performance will feel quite similar when it comes to app launching, multitasking, and basic gaming.

However, software experience is where things start to differ. Infinix offers its new “One-Tap AI Ask Everything”—an AI assistant designed to help with searches and device commands in one tap. Tecno, meanwhile, offers a customizable one-tap button that can be configured to launch various AI features, including Ella, Tecno's AI assistant, which can perform tasks like language translation, reading summaries, and more.

3. Memory & Storage

When it comes to storage and RAM, both phones start with similar base options, but Tecno edges slightly ahead when you look closer at memory allocation. On the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+, you’re getting either 128GB of storage paired with 8GB of RAM or 256GB of storage with the same 8GB of RAM. Infinix does let you expand the RAM by another 8GB using virtual memory, giving you a total of 16GB in extended usage.

However, Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ takes a more generous approach. Both its 128GB and 256GB variants come with 8GB of physical RAM as well, but Tecno doubles the virtual RAM expansion, offering an additional 8GB, bringing total usable memory up to 16GB right out of the box without needing adjustments.

In practical terms, Tecno’s larger virtual RAM allocation means it could handle more background apps without slowing down, and switching between tasks may feel a bit smoother, especially for multitaskers.

4. Camera

Both phones have a 50MP rear camera and a 13MP selfie shooter, but the sensor quality and extra features vary slightly.

The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ uses a Sony IMX882 sensor, known for better low-light performance, supported by its AI RAW Engine for processing. On the front, it offers a 13MP camera with a 90° field of view, which is good for wider selfies.

Tecno’s Spark 40 Pro+ matches the 50MP count but adds dual flash, both at the front and rear, for brighter night shots. However, Tecno doesn’t mention any specific sensor like Infinix does, which could hint at a less premium setup.

5. Battery & Charging

Battery size is nearly identical between the two phones. Infinix gives you a 5160mAh battery, while Tecno offers a slightly larger 5200mAh unit—but in day-to-day use, you’re unlikely to notice much difference in how long they last. Both devices also support 45W wired fast charging, so recharging speeds should feel about the same.

Where Tecno stands out, though, is in its charging extras. Unlike Infinix, Tecno includes 30W wireless charging, letting you power up without needing cables at all—a rare feature for phones in this price range. On top of that, Tecno supports 5W reverse wireless charging, which lets you use your phone like a mini power bank to top up other gadgets, like earbuds or another phone.

6. Pricing & Value

Price-wise, there’s barely any gap between the two models. The Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ starts at around ₦270,000 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version. Tecno’s Spark 40 Pro+ is slightly higher, starting at about ₦273,000 for the same configuration.

With just a ₦3,000 difference separating them, both phones fall squarely in the same price range. In the end, your choice will likely hinge more on the extra features each offers—like Tecno’s wireless charging and extended RAM—than the price itself.

Conclusion

If you’re after style and durability, the Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is a smarter choice. It’s thinner, has a slightly tougher display, and benefits from a Sony-powered camera that could give your photos an edge.

But if practicality matters more to you, Tecno’s Spark 40 Pro+ is hard to ignore. With more usable RAM and the bonus of wireless and reverse charging, it’s built for multitaskers and anyone who prefers ditching cables.

At this price point, both phones deliver solid value, and you’re not likely to feel shortchanged either way. It just depends on whether you lean towards looks or day-to-day convenience.
