Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart Tour, its long-running mobile racing game for iOS and Android, will shut down on September 29, 2026, bringing an end to one of the company's most successful and longest-supported smartphone titles.
The company confirmed the decision in a blog post and on its official social media channels, saying the game's online service will end at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Once the servers go offline, players will no longer be able to access the game, and Nintendo has confirmed there are no plans to release an offline version.
"We sincerely thank the many players who have loved and supported the game since service began so long ago. Thank you for playing Mario Kart Tour," Nintendo said.
Launched in September 2019, Mario Kart Tour was Nintendo's biggest attempt to bring one of its flagship franchises to smartphones. Over its seven-year lifespan, the game surpassed 200 million downloads and generated more than $200 million in lifetime revenue, according to Sensor Tower.
It also received hundreds of updates, seasonal tours, new drivers, karts, gliders, and original courses, making it one of Nintendo's highest-grossing mobile games..
