After years of waiting, Insomniac Games has finally locked in a release date for Marvel’s Wolverine.
The highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive will launch on September 15, 2026, marking the studio’s next major superhero blockbuster following its success with Spider-Man.
Wolverine was first teased during The Game Awards in 2021 with a brief cinematic reveal. After that, the project largely disappeared from public view, aside from leaks tied to a major Insomniac security breach in 2023.
Momentum picked back up last year when Sony showcased a brutal gameplay trailer confirming a Fall 2026 window. Now, Insomniac has made it official with a short teaser and a social media announcement. “Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026,” it said in the post.

The confirmation comes after fans speculated the game might appear during a recent PlayStation State of Play presentation, expectations that ultimately went unmet.
What Is Marvel’s Wolverine About?
According to its PlayStation Store listing, Marvel’s Wolverine will tell an original story centered on Logan confronting a shadowy past that continues to haunt him.
Described as a “global thriller,” the game will send players across multiple locations, including:
- The island nation of Madripoor
- The frozen wilderness of Canada
- The crowded streets of Tokyo
Players can expect intense, close-quarters combat and the kind of raw, violent action that fits Wolverine’s character.
The game will also feature familiar Marvel characters, including Mystique and Omega Red. Actor Liam McIntyre, known for voicing JD Fenix in the Gears franchise, has been confirmed will voice Wolverine.
A Big Year for Marvel on PlayStation
Wolverine won’t be the only Marvel title arriving on PlayStation in 2026. Sony is also publishing Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a fighting game scheduled to launch on August 6.
Still, Wolverine is clearly positioned as one of the PS5’s biggest exclusives of the year.
