The long-awaited arrival of Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch 2 has hit an unexpected snag, as players report performance problems shortly after launch. Before release, Blizzard Entertainment had positioned the Switch 2 version as a significant upgrade, promising gameplay at up to 60 frames per second.
But early player feedback tells a different story.
Many users say the game feels closer to 30 FPS, sparking speculation that something may have gone wrong with the port. Some even believe the version released could resemble the older Nintendo Switch build rather than a fully optimized Switch 2 experience.
To its credit, Blizzard Entertainment quickly acknowledged the issue. The company confirmed it is “aware of issues with Nintendo Switch 2 performance” and is currently working on a patch to resolve them. At the moment, there’s no confirmed release date for the fix, leaving players waiting for improvements.
Performance isn’t the only problem impacting the launch. Blizzard also noted an issue with custom control bindings, where player settings may not save correctly or could reset unexpectedly. For a fast-paced shooter like Overwatch, this can significantly affect gameplay comfort and competitiveness.
There have also been adjustments to the Mystery Heroes mode, with players advised to check updated patch notes for details on how the mode has changed. In addition, several cosmetic items are currently unavailable in-game.
Blizzard confirmed that the following items are missing and will be restored in a future patch: Ana’s “Sparklers” Victory Pose, Mercy’s “Pompompurin x Mercy” Avatar and Spray. Voice lines including “Where’s Emre”, “Roasted!”, “Behind this mask”, and “Inadequate creature”.
While these issues don’t affect core gameplay, they impact customization and player expression, key parts of the Overwatch experience.
