Sony Interactive Entertainment just wrapped its February 2026 State of Play, delivering over an hour of reveals, updates, surprise launches, and long-awaited returns for PlayStation 5.

From the first brand-new Castlevania in over a decade to major God of War announcements and deep dives into upcoming first- and third-party titles, this was one of the most packed State of Play presentations in recent memory.

Here’s everything announced.

Castlevania Returns With Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

The biggest surprise of the night? A brand-new Castlevania.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse marks the first original entry in the gothic action series in more than a decade. Development duties are shared between Konami, Motion Twin, and Evil Empire, the teams behind Dead Cells and its acclaimed Return to Castlevania DLC.

The new 2D action-exploration game introduces a fresh art style, new weapons and abilities, while preserving the classic whip-cracking combat the series is known for. It’s launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Beast of Reincarnation launches on PS5 August 4, 2026

Game Freak has revealed new gameplay and story details for its upcoming action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation, directed by Kota Furushima, launching exclusively on PS5 on August 4, 2026. Set in the year 4026 in a sci-fi reimagining of Japan, the story follows Emma, a “blightborn” outcast fused with plant life, and Koo, a mysterious being known as a malefact. Emma can manipulate her vine-like hair for traversal and combat — from scaling collapsed structures to performing aerial assassinations — while Koo plays a crucial role in both the narrative and battle system.

The game blends real-time sword combat with strategic, command-based RPG mechanics. Players control Emma’s action-focused fighting while issuing commands to Koo, whose abilities are activated using points earned through precise parries. Opening Koo’s command menu slows time, allowing tactical decisions mid-battle. The world itself evolves dynamically due to the spreading blight, with environments shifting in real time and spawning new threats. Beast of Reincarnation arrives on PS5 this summer, and players can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store.

God of War Gets Two Major Announcements

Big news dropped for God of War fans at State of Play as Santa Monica Studio confirmed that the original Greek trilogy is officially being remade. Announced as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the project is still in very early development, with more details to come later. The reveal featured TC Carson, the original voice of Kratos during the Greek saga, signaling a return to the roots that defined the series.

In addition, God of War: Sons of Sparta is available now on PlayStation 5. Developed in partnership with Mega Cat Studios, the 2D action platformer explores Kratos’ youth during his brutal Agoge training alongside Deimos. Featuring a canon story written by the team behind God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök, the game blends classic characters with new mythological foes in hand-drawn pixel animation. The Standard Edition is priced at $29.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is $39.99, both available digitally on PS5.

It’s a bold blend of nostalgia and experimentation for one of PlayStation’s flagship franchises.

007 First Light Reveals Bond’s Origin Story

007 First Light debuted a new story trailer at State of Play, revealing a re-imagined origin story for James Bond. Developed by IO Interactive, the game follows a young, unproven Bond at the very start of his MI6 journey, before the tuxedo and the 00 status. After catching the attention of MI6 during a mission in Iceland, Bond is recruited into the revived 00 Programme, where his instincts and recklessness clash with authority figures like his training instructor, John Greenway. With support from M, Bond must prove himself as he hunts down a rogue former agent, 009, in a globe-spanning mission that shapes the foundation of his legacy.

The game blends cinematic, narrative-driven storytelling with open-ended mission design, giving players freedom in how they approach objectives. 007 First Light launches on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on May 27, 2026, with pre-orders including a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition.

4: Loop

4:Loop is a rogue-like co-op shooter from Bad Robot Games where you and three teammates attempt to stop an alien invasion that has turned 99.99% of humanity into glass. A mysterious Mothership freezes the planet in time, sparing only a few survivors, including you. From there, the game revolves around the “Probability Map,” a strategic system where players vote on branching mission nodes, each carrying different risks, rewards, and escalating consequences.

Once deployed, missions blend combat, hacking, rescue objectives, and survival against relentless alien Killbot squads. As long as one teammate reaches the Escape Zone, the run continues, but death comes with penalties, forcing smart teamwork and resource management. After each mission or Boss battle, players regroup at Homebase to upgrade gear, adjust strategy, and shop for new weapons, abilities, and enhancements. With randomized environments, weather, enemies, and loot, no two runs play the same, emphasizing improvisation and replayability.

A Closed Beta for 4:Loop is coming this spring on PS5 and PC, beginning in North America, with sign-ups now open through the FirstLook queue.

Death Stranding 2 Heads to PC

Kojima Productions has confirmed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch on PC on March 19, 2026, with pre-purchases now live on Steam and Epic Games Store. The standalone sequel sees players step back into the boots of Sam as he works to connect Australia to the Chiral Network, facing hostile enemies, environmental disasters like earthquakes and sandstorms, and the ever-threatening Timefall. The Social Strand System returns, allowing players’ actions to impact each other’s worlds globally.

The PC version, developed with support from Nixxes Software, includes NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel upscalers with Frame Generation, uncapped frame rates, and full ultrawide support (21:9 and 32:9) in 4K resolution. Players can choose between mouse and keyboard or DualSense controller integration, alongside 3D audio support via Dolby Access, DTS Sound Unbound, or Windows Sonic. At launch, new modes and features will arrive on both PC and PS5. Pre-purchase bonuses include early unlock gear and custom holograms, while the Digital Deluxe Edition adds exclusive patches, gold skeleton variants, and early weapon access.

Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 Announced

Revealed during State of Play, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 arrives on PS5 on August 27, 2026, bringing together three major entries in the legendary stealth franchise from Konami. The collection includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version), and the handheld classic Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, available within the Bonus Content section. Each title comes with a Scenario Book and Master Book for deeper story insights, while the digital edition adds Metal Gear Solid: Digital Soundtrack Vol.2.

Metal Gear Solid 4 features improved internal resolution, higher frame rate, and customizable controls. Peace Walker includes co-op (2–4 players) and Versus modes (up to 6 players) alongside control customization. Ghost Babel adds modern features like screen filters, rewind functionality, and pixel-perfect display options. Pre-orders grant bonus in-game items for MGS4 and Peace Walker, with additional rewards available for players who own save data from Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. The collection is available for pre-order now on the PlayStation Store, with a final visual update for Vol.1 launching alongside the announcement.

A major preservation win for fans of Konami’s legendary stealth series.

John Wick is coming to PS5

A brand-new AAA John Wick game has officially been announced for PlayStation 5. Developed by Saber Interactive, the project is being created in close collaboration with franchise director Chad Stahelski, star Keanu Reeves, and Lionsgate. While the official title and release date are yet to be revealed, the game will explore a specific chapter in John Wick’s timeline, expanding the lore of the action franchise with both familiar and new characters.

Designed as a cinematic, adrenaline-fueled experience, the game promises to recreate the signature “gun-fu” combat, intense driving, bold neo-noir environments, and stylized camerawork that define the films. Saber Interactive is building a distinct combat system from the ground up to deliver an authentic John Wick action feel, aiming to blur the line between movies and video games. The untitled project will be a fully immersive, high-stakes experience that puts players directly in the role of the Baba Yaga on PS5.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, the game introduces a new town to explore, narrative-driven puzzles, and terrifying enemies that require both stealth and combat strategies to survive. Central to gameplay is the CRTV, a reimagined handheld device inspired by the series’ iconic radio, which lets players detect threats, uncover story elements, and navigate challenges in an immersive, retro-style interface.

The first-person perspective enhances the game’s horror and puzzle design, making encounters feel visceral and suspenseful. Players can use melee and ranged weapons, environmental tools, and stealth tactics to survive, while the DualSense controller adds tension through dynamic feedback, such as rumbling footsteps of nearby enemies. Retaining the signature Silent Hill atmosphere, Townfall blends rich narrative, intricate puzzles, and aesthetic depth, promising a sophisticated and terrifying experience.
