Samsung One UI 8.0 Beta Rolls Out To More Galaxy Devices

If you’ve got a supported device, it might be worth jumping in to see what’s next before everyone else.

Samsung has been teasing One UI 8 for months, first confirming the Android 16-based update earlier this year and promising a wave of performance improvements, cleaner visuals, and tighter integration with Google’s latest features.

At the time, the company framed it as the “next step” in making Galaxy devices feel more seamless and intelligent, think better multitasking on foldables, refined animations, and smarter suggestions.

Now, after all that build-up, the beta is officially rolling out, giving select users a first look at what’s coming before the stable release.

What’s New in Samsung One UI 8?

Samsung One UI 8 may not be a dramatic visual overhaul like Samsung One UI 7 was, but it’s bringing a few meaningful changes under the hood. Samsung says users can expect the usual updates that come with a new operating system iteration, like smoother animations, faster app launches, and better battery optimisation, mostly thanks to Android 16’s core improvements.

Foldable owners also get enhanced multitasking tools, including more intuitive split-screen controls and improved drag-and-drop between apps. AI-powered suggestions now surface in more places, from photo editing to text input, while design tweaks, like cleaner notification layouts and updated quick settings, aim to make the interface feel more modern.

What Devices Get Samsung One UI 8 Beta?

The first devices to get access are unsurprisingly Samsung’s latest and greatest: the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The beta started going live on August 11 in India, South Korea, the UK, and the U.S., meaning these markets get an early seat at the table, just as they did in past beta cycles.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S25 series were the first to ship with One UI 8 out of the box, so this update brings Samsung’s second-most-recent flagships in line with its newest lineup. If your device isn’t in that first wave, don’t worry, Samsung says the beta programme will expand over the coming weeks. The next batch includes the Galaxy S23 series, last year’s foldables (Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5), and a few mid-range A-series models like the Galaxy A55 5G, A54 5G, A36 5G, and A35 5G.

This staggered rollout is pretty standard for Samsung, partly to catch early bugs before pushing updates to millions of phones, and partly because some models require extra optimization for features to work smoothly.

Samsung One UI 8 Beta Now Available for Select Devices
One UI 8 may not look radically different, but it’s laying important groundwork for a smoother, smarter Samsung experience.

How To Signup for Samsung One UI 8 Beta

Joining the beta is fairly straightforward if you have an eligible device. You’ll need the Samsung Members app, which is available on the Galaxy Store or Google Play Store.

  • Once logged in with your Samsung account, look for the Samsung One UI 8 Beta banner on the home screen and tap to enroll.
  • After that, head to your phone’s Settings → Software update → Download and Install, agree to the terms, and the beta should start downloading.

Just keep in mind that features may vary depending on where you live. Samsung sometimes withholds certain tools or AI capabilities in specific regions due to regulatory or licensing issues.

Conclusion

Looking ahead, Samsung is expected to continue polishing the interface in the coming months and could also add new Galaxy AI features that didn’t make it into the beta. That’s something to watch closely, especially as competitors like Google and Xiaomi have been aggressively baking AI into their Android skins while other operating systems we shall not name continue to struggle with AI.

For now, though, One UI 8 Beta is the biggest step forward for Samsung’s Android 16 journey, and if you’ve got a supported device, it might be worth jumping in to see what’s next before everyone else.
