Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7 Olympic Edition, a limited-run foldable designed exclusively for the 3,800 athletes competing at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games.

This continues a tradition Samsung started at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Every one of the 3,800 athletes will receive the device when they arrive at the Olympic Village. It is a functional tool meant to help them document their experience at the Games.

This phone is different from the standard Galaxy Z Flip7 released in 2025. It features a "Milano Blue" glass back, which is meant to mimic the Italian azure sky, and a gold-tone metal frame. It also comes with a custom case decorated with a laurel pattern.

This specific version is not available for sale to the public. The choice of a foldable phone allows athletes to carry it in tight competition suits where a standard phone would not fit.

This also acts as a durability test. Samsung is placing these phones in freezing, high-altitude environments to prove they are rugged enough for daily use.

Samsung customized the software for the two-week event. The phone includes a "Victory Selfie" feature. This allows medallists to bring the phone onto the podium to take photos from their own perspective, which was previously not allowed.

Stephanie Choi, EVP of Mobile Marketing at Samsung, explained the goal behind these features during the launch. She noted that with this edition, "athletes will be able to connect with fans and families at every unforgettable moment in their own way."

The device also comes with a pre-activated 100GB 5G eSIM so athletes have immediate internet access. It uses Galaxy AI for live translation and to organize schedules, helping athletes navigate the busy Olympic environment.
