Street Fighter 6 has rolled out its latest update, bringing fan-favourite grappler Alex back into the spotlight alongside new cosmetics and gameplay tweaks.
Here are the major highlights:
Alex returns to the ring
The headline addition is Alex, the hard-hitting wrestler who first appeared as the protagonist of Street Fighter III: New Generation in 1997.
Known as “The Man with No Allies”, Alex returns with a more refined and aggressive fighting style. His reworked kit introduces a new stance system — the Prowler Stance — alongside more than 10 throws and grappling options, and smoother transitions that make his combos feel faster and more fluid.
Players can unlock Alex using Fighter Coins, while those who own the Year 3 Character Pass or Ultimate Pass will get automatic access.
New moves and combat enhancements
Alex’s updated toolkit leans heavily into close-range pressure, reinforcing his identity as a dangerous grappler:
- Flash Axe – A fast combo finisher that flows into stance transitions
- Flash Chop – A heavy strike that opens opponents up for grabs
- Aerial Knee Smash – A powerful anti-air slam
- Power Bomb – His iconic command grab, now with multiple variations
The standout addition is his Prowler Stance, a high-risk, high-reward mechanic that sacrifices defence for access to 11 mix-up options. From this stance, players can chain into devastating grapples like Flying Suplex and Spiral DDT.
Super Arts bring the pain
Alex’s Super Arts lean into spectacle and damage:
- Raging Spear (Level 1) – A forward tackle with invincibility on startup
- Sledgecross Hammer (Level 2) – A crushing lariat with wall-splat potential
- Omega Wing Buster (Level 2 variant) – A follow-up tied to OD attacks
- The Final Prison (Level 3) – A cinematic finisher with four different outcomes depending on the situation
In a notable crossover, professional wrestler Kenny Omega contributed motion capture for one of Alex’s signature moves, adding extra authenticity to his wrestling style.
More than just a character drop
The update goes beyond Alex. It also includes:
- Balance adjustments across the roster
- New Outfit 4 skins for Dee Jay and Elena
- Combo trials and character guides to help players learn Alex
Altogether, the Alex Update is a solid content drop aimed at both casual players and the competitive scene — another sign of Capcom’s continued effort to keep Street Fighter 6 evolving.
