Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has finally weighed in on one of the gaming industry’s biggest questions: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost?

Speaking during the iicon executive conference, Zelnick declined to confirm the official launch price for Rockstar’s highly anticipated blockbuster, but his comments strongly suggest that GTA 6 may avoid the ultra-premium price point many players have speculated about.

While rumors of an $80, $100, or even higher price tags have been circulating for years, Zelnick emphasized Take-Two’s focus on consumer trust, long-term value, and delivering an entertainment experience that feels worth the investment.

What Strauss Zelnick actually said about GTA 6 price

Zelnick avoided confirming a specific dollar amount; he made it clear that Take-Two is approaching pricing carefully.

“Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way, way, way less for the value delivery.”

That statement directly addresses fears that GTA 6 could aggressively redefine AAA game pricing. According to Zelnick, “How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got.”

What this means for GTA 6 pricing

Although there’s still no official confirmation, Zelnick’s comments indicate that GTA 6 is unlikely to launch with a shock-value price point. Standard edition pricing may remain close to current AAA norms, while premium and collector’s editions may not, and Rockstar may continue to lean on post-launch monetization, including GTA Online.

Take-Two appears more focused on perceived fairness than exploiting hype through an unprecedented base cost.

Take-Two says modern game pricing is already “reasonable”

Zelnick also referenced inflation, noting that blockbuster games have largely remained within similar pricing ranges for over a decade despite rising development costs.

“If you look at it through that lens, that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But that isn’t the lens through which we look”, he said. “Instead, we look at… how do we deliver something amazing, and how do we make sure that what people pay for it feels very reasonable”, he added.

This reinforces Take-Two’s strategy of balancing profitability with customer goodwill, especially for a title as culturally significant as GTA 6. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Zelnick’s comments is Rockstar’s own ambition.

“What we think about is making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth, in history.”

For Take-Two and Rockstar, GTA 6 is being positioned not just as a major game launch, but as a historic entertainment event.

Zelnick added, “If we do that, and if we’re of service to our customers, then the upside will take care of itself.” Then he jokingly acknowledged the expected cultural impact, “I do think a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19.”

Could L.A. Noire return?

Beyond GTA 6, Zelnick also addressed the future of L.A. Noire, giving cautious hope to fans of Rockstar’s detective franchise.

“Broadly, we’re looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property.”

While he clarified there is currently “Nothing to announce on L.A. Noire specifically,” he also confirmed that legacy IP remains under regular review.

This means that no sequel has been confirmed, no remake has been announced, the franchise remains on Take-Two’s radar, and future revival depends on developer passion and strategic timing.

Why this matters for Rockstar fans

Take-Two’s broader strategy suggests that GTA 6 remains the immediate focus, legacy franchises are not abandoned, premium pricing will likely be balanced carefully, and Rockstar’s future may eventually revisit dormant brands like L.A. Noire.

For fans, this means both short-term blockbuster excitement and long-term franchise potential.
