CES 2026 is gradually coming to an end, and already it feels like this will be the year of foldables. Personally, I have never been a fan. I’m not sure why I need such a big screen as a primary phone, which is how many foldables have been marketed.
However, one shocking entry into foldables that got buzz this week sent us down memory lane. The Motorola Razr Fold — the first foldable from Motorola, now owned by Lenovo — got us wondering what actually happened to the Motorola brand.
In the early aughts, Motorola managed to carve a nice niche for itself by offering some of the slimmest phones. But over time, the American company was usurped from centre stage, taking a back burner.
What actually happened to it?
