Thousands of users reported problems with Discord on Monday after a messaging outage temporarily disrupted the platform.
At the peak of the incident, some users said they were unable to send or receive messages, triggering frustration among gaming communities, online groups, and remote teams that rely on Discord for daily communication.
Thousands Report Problems
According to outage tracking service Downdetector, reports of issues began rising sharply just before 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time on March 9.
Within minutes, thousands of users started flagging problems with the platform. At the peak of the outage around 1:10 p.m. ET, nearly 23,000 reports had been logged.
Most users reported that messages were failing to send or load, while others saw chats stuck in a loading state even though servers appeared to be online.

Discord Acknowledges the Issue
Discord’s support team quickly confirmed the outage on X (formerly Twitter), explaining that engineers were investigating the problem.
In the update, the company said, “Our team is currently investigating an issue where some users are not able to receive or send messages.”
