Microsoft account users no longer need to worry about their accounts getting hacked or their data privacy being breached, as the company is introducing passkey support for user accounts.

The tech giant has finally made passkey support for its accounts a reality following its vision 10 years ago, where it saw a world free of passwords and had been making significant progress up until this time.

Now with the passkey, you can sign into your Microsoft account using your face, fingerprint, or device PIN on Windows, Google, and Apple platforms without having to worry about malicious attacks, as it would do a better job than your regular passwords.

Another interesting thing to note is that the passkey is invulnerable to phishing attacks, which means that, unlike your passwords, the passkey is unique to your Microsoft accounts and websites and will not work on lookalike websites and accounts.

The passkey also functions as a pair combination called a cryptographic key pair, with one key safely guarded by your biometrics or PIN while the other key stays with the app or website for which you created the passkey.

You could say that the passkey support feature for Microsoft accounts may be coming late given that other platforms such as Google, Apple, and TikTok have had this feature for a while on their platforms. Nonetheless, over 1.2 billion Microsoft users, per data from ZipDo, can now be confident knowing that their accounts are well secured.
