Talking to an Apple Genius about a broken iPhone or Mac may soon involve more than just a repair ticket. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is testing an AI feature that records, transcribes, and summarises support conversations at some Apple Stores.

On paper, it sounds like a productivity tool. In practice, it has already raised questions about privacy and employee monitoring.

Apple’s new AI tool is called Live Notes

The pilot feature, known internally as Live Notes, is currently being tested in a limited number of Apple Stores.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tool records conversations between Genius Bar employees and customers, automatically converts them into text, generates an AI summary, and attaches that summary to the repair record on the employee’s work iPad.

The goal is straightforward. Instead of employees manually documenting every repair conversation, AI creates a record automatically, potentially saving time and reducing paperwork.

Apple reportedly says participation is voluntary. Both the customer and the employee must opt in before recording begins.
