Assassin’s Creed Shadows Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2

After launching last year on other platforms, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has now officially arrived on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players a new way to experience the game on Nintendo’s latest console.

Over the past year, the development team has continued improving the game through updates and player feedback. Ubisoft says the experience has evolved significantly since launch, with parkour improvements and gameplay refinements shaped directly by conversations with the community.

According to the team, player feedback gathered through online discussions and in-person sessions with creators and fans played a major role in shaping how the game evolved over time.

And now, as the game approaches its first anniversary, Ubisoft is preparing a special celebration for the community.

Ubisoft Celebrates One Year of Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft will host a special livestream on March 20 on its official Twitch channel to celebrate the one-year milestone of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

During the event, players can expect updates on the latest game improvements, winners from the community Parkour Challenge, and in-game drops and giveaways.

However, Ubisoft confirmed that Shadows is entering its final phase of support. That means future updates will be smaller and less frequent as the development teams gradually shift their focus toward upcoming Assassin’s Creed projects.

Codename HEXE: A Darker Assassin’s Creed Story

One of the most anticipated upcoming titles is Codename HEXE, currently being developed at Ubisoft Montreal.

The project is being led by Jean Guesdon, who recently returned to the franchise as Head of Content and Creative Director for the game.

While Ubisoft is still keeping many details under wraps, the studio has hinted that HEXE will be more narrative-driven, darker in tone, and set during a pivotal moment in history.

For now, Ubisoft says the team is taking its time to fully realize the game’s ambitious vision before revealing more.

Codename Invictus Will Bring PvP Multiplayer to Assassin’s Creed

Another project in development is Codename Invictus, a new multiplayer experience within the Assassin’s Creed universe.

The game is being developed by veterans who previously worked on For Honor, and it will focus on player-versus-player combat.

Ubisoft says the project is experimenting with new ideas for multiplayer gameplay and plans to bring players into the development process earlier through community testing and feedback.

The goal is to expand Assassin’s Creed beyond its traditional single-player formula and introduce new types of gameplay experiences within the franchise.

More Assassin’s Creed Projects Are on the Way

Beyond HEXE and Invictus, Ubisoft confirmed that multiple Assassin’s Creed projects are currently in development, all at different stages.

These include Assassin's Creed Jade, potential co-op gameplay returning to the franchise, and other unannounced titles still in early development.

The studio also revealed that one early project was recently canceled, but the lessons learned from that work are already influencing future games.

Ubisoft’s approach going forward is simple: give each project enough development time and release it when it’s truly ready.

Ubisoft confirmed that a live-action Assassin’s Creed series for Netflix is still in development, and more news about the show including casting updates, will be revealed soon.

The project has been in development for several years, but the company says fans won’t have to wait much longer for new details.

A 60 FPS Upgrade for Assassin’s Creed Unity

Ubisoft also shared good news for fans of older titles.

A free 60 FPS patch for Assassin's Creed Unity is coming to modern consoles, allowing players to revisit 18th-century Paris with smoother gameplay on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

In addition, several Assassin’s Creed games will be playable for free during Xbox Free Play Days from April 2 to April 6, giving new players a chance to jump into the franchise.
