Battlefield 6 won't be coming to Xbox Game Pass
But, you may be able to try the game on the release date.
Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be one of this year’s most anticipated shooter releases. The trailers and gameplay previews suggest the franchise might finally be back in top form.
Naturally, that hype fueled rumours that it would be a day-one drop on Xbox Game Pass. But EA is taking a different route.
Instead, Battlefield 6 will launch through EA Play Pro, EA’s premium PC-only subscription service. Subscribers will get the Phantom Edition, priced at $99.99 if purchased outright, along with early access to the open beta (August 7–8) and the EA Play Deployment Pack, which includes free cosmetics and an XP Boost.
EA Play Pro costs $16.99 per month or $119.99 per year, but again, only PC players can sign up. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Battlefield 6’s biggest competitor this fall, will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, making EA’s approach stand apart.
PlayStation and Xbox players have no path to EA Play Pro, and Game Pass users won’t get access to Battlefield 6 on day one. However, there’s a small silver lining for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
EA usually offers 10-hour free trials of its new releases via the base EA Play tier, which comes bundled with Game Pass Ultimate. So, while you won’t get full access, you may be able to try the game on release day.
And based on previous EA patterns, Battlefield 6 will likely make its way to standard EA Play subscription, and thus Game Pass Ultimate, about six to twelve months after launch.
For players who prefer to skip subscriptions entirely, Battlefield 6 is available for direct purchase at $69.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Phantom Edition. You can pre-order right now while we wait for its full release on October 10, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
