Smartphone shipments from Original Design Manufacturers/Independent Design Houses (ODMs/IDHs) declined 5% YoY in 2022, according to a Counterpoint report.

Per the report, the decline in year-over-year (YoY) performance in 2022 was primarily caused by the underperformance of smartphone OEMs such as OPPO Group, Transsion Group, Lenovo Group, and HONOR. Consequently, the weak performance of these smartphone OEMs had a direct impact on their ODM partners.

Longcheer, Huaqin, and Wingtech maintained their dominant position in the global smartphone ODM/IDH industry in 2022. The three companies, also known as the 'Big Three', held a collective 76% market share, up from 70% in 2021 the report stated.
