In celebration of the newly announced Graveyard Keeper 2, one of the PlayStation 4’s most unusual and darkly comedic games is now completely free to claim — and you don’t need PlayStation Plus to get it.

The 2018 cult favourite Graveyard Keeper, developed by Lazy Bear Games and published by tinyBuild, is currently free across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

The offer runs until April 13, 2026, giving players a limited window to grab the game and keep it in their library permanently.

Unlike many PlayStation promotions, this one comes with zero requirements. You don’t need a PlayStation Plus membership — just log in, claim the game, and it’s yours. As the name suggests, Graveyard Keeper puts you in charge of managing a mediaeval cemetery — but that’s only the beginning.

The game blends simulation, dark humour, and moral choices in a way rarely seen in the genre. You’re not just maintaining graves; you’re building a business, cutting corners, and sometimes making ethically questionable decisions to get ahead.

Traysia Returns in Surprise Revival for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
Retro game Traysia is coming to PS5 and PS4 as well as other platforms.

According to its official description: “Graveyard Keeper is the most inaccurate mediaeval cemetery management sim of all time. Build and manage your own graveyard… use all the resources you can find… this is a game about the spirit of capitalism and doing whatever it takes to build a thriving business.”

Much of the game’s appeal comes from its strange but compelling mechanics. Players can expand their graveyard into a full-blown business venture, harvest resources and craft items to grow their operations, explore dungeons for rare materials and alchemy ingredients, and take on quests — or simply cut corners in morally questionable ways.

One of the game’s most talked-about elements is the ethical freedom it gives players, even asking: “Do you really want to spend money on proper burger meat… when you have so many resources lying around?”

That tone perfectly captures the game’s mix of satire and strategy.

This isn’t a permanent free-to-play switch — it’s a limited-time giveaway tied to the announcement of its sequel. Once the April 13 deadline passes, the game will likely return to its normal price.
