After more than ten years of waiting, Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the date that will define the next era of its game: November 19, 2026. That’s when Grand Theft Auto VI officially launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the industry is already bracing for the impact.

This isn’t just another sequel. GTA 6 is expected to be one of the largest game releases of the decade, with projections pointing to billions in revenue and record-breaking engagement across streaming, social media, and gaming communities worldwide.

Why the Release Took So Long

The road to November 2026 was anything but straightforward. The GTA 6 release was initially targeted for 2025, but was delayed to May 2026, before Rockstar finally settled on the current November 2026 date. 

The studio explained that the extra time was necessary to deliver the level of quality and polish fans have come to expect from a mainline GTA release.

A Return to Vice City and Much More

GTA 6 brings players back to the iconic Vice City, now rebuilt inside a massive new open world known as Leonida, a Florida-inspired state that stretches far beyond the city’s borders. Players will explore coastal towns, rural regions, swamps, national parks, and the neon-soaked heart of Vice City itself, all seamlessly connected in Rockstar’s largest map to date.
