Here’s what we know so far about the OnePlus 15R coming to India soon
With the OnePlus 15R set to debut in India, early specs reveal a powerful mid-range contender worth keeping an eye on.
Every now and then, you see smartphone brands launch a major flagship and then follow it up with a slightly more affordable sub-model. That’s exactly what OnePlus seems to be doing this year.
The OnePlus 15 only just arrived a few days ago, and the company is already preparing for its next release in India, the OnePlus 15R. The product page is now live on the official site, confirming that it will ship with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 right out of the box. And if it follows the blueprint of the OnePlus Ace 6 that debuted in China last month, we already have a pretty clear picture of what the 15R might bring, even if a few details change before launch.
If the OnePlus 15R is anything like the Ace 6, you can expect a 6.7-inch 1.5K OLED display with a buttery-smooth 165Hz refresh rate—perfect for gaming, streaming, or just scrolling through your apps.

One of the most interesting bits is the chipset. The 15R is set to become the world’s first phone running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a non-Elite version reportedly co-developed with OnePlus itself. If that chip makes its way to the 15R, it could easily position the phone in true flagship performance territory. Teasers show that storage options go up to 16GB of LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, which is more than most people will ever need.
For OnePlus, battery life is another big talking point. The 15R is expected to house an 8,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging, one of the largest batteries ever used in a OnePlus smartphone. It also brings IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust protection, matching the durability ratings of the OnePlus 15.
While the phone is not positioned as a camera-centric device, it's expected to carry a 50MP + 8MP dual rear setup alongside a 32MP selfie camera. Additional features include a metal frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, NFC, and an X-axis linear motor. Two colours are shown so far—black and green.

If we go by how OnePlus has priced the R series in the past, the numbers give us a good clue. The OnePlus 12R came in at ₹39,999, the 13R at ₹42,999, and if that trend continues, the OnePlus 15R should still land somewhere under ₹45,000 ($507).
That’s a comfortable gap from the main OnePlus 15, which starts at ₹72,999 ($823), and a big part of why the R lineup continues to appeal to performance-focused buyers who don’t want to spend flagship money.
Final thoughts
All things considered, the OnePlus 15R shapes up to be another solid entry in the R lineup. It offers premium power where it counts, yet stays well below the price of the main flagship series. If those chipset and battery details hold, it could turn into one of the most attractive performance-first options in its segment. Now we just have to wait for launch day to see how much of the speculation becomes real.
