Everything We Know About the OnePlus 15R So Far

With this, OnePlus might be blurring the line between its R-series and full-fledged flagships once again.

If you’ve followed OnePlus long enough, you probably know the drill by now. What launches in China under the “Ace” badge usually returns to global markets wearing an “R.” It happened with the Ace 2, which showed up as the OnePlus 11R, and again with the Ace 3, reintroduced to the world as the OnePlus 12R and subsequent release. This time, it's happening with the OnePlus Ace 6, expected to debut globally as the OnePlus 15R on October 27.

And while OnePlus has already lifted the spec curtain on the flagship OnePlus 15, the Ace 6 (or rather, the 15R-to-be) is still mostly under wraps. But not for long. A fresh leak from Weibo has spilled a detailed look at its full specifications, giving us a good idea of what to expect when OnePlus brings the “R” series back to global shelves.

The update introduces Android 16 features, AI-powered tools, and a lighter design that rivals Samsung’s One UI.

Feature specifications to expect from the OnePlus 15R

Unlike its predecessor, the OnePlus 13R (sold in China as the OnePlus Ace 5), which shipped with OxygenOS 15.0 based on Android 15, the upcoming OnePlus 15R is said to debut with Android 16 right out of the box. It also brings a refreshed design and flagship-tier hardware, continuing OnePlus’s push to blur the line between its main and R-series devices.

From the early renders, the OnePlus 15R looks every bit as premium as its flagship sibling. It’s said to feature a metal frame with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings — making it one of the most rugged builds OnePlus has ever released. At around 213 grams, it strikes a balance between durability and comfort, with a refreshed rear design that mirrors the clean aesthetic of the OnePlus 15. For the Chinese version, the device may carry a subtle “ACE” engraving down the back — a small detail that ties it back to its roots.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 15R is expected to run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5chip, the same processor powering several flagship devices this year. Paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, you could say it’s built for serious multitasking and fast app load times. If true, this would mark a clear step up from the OnePlus 13R, which featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Moving to the front, the 15R sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1264 × 2780 resolution and a 450 ppi density — crisp, bright, and ideal for daily use. The screen supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid, along with ProXDR LTPO 4.1 technology offering 10-bit color and 100% Display P3 coverage. In plain terms, expect smoother motion, deeper contrast, and richer color across apps, games, and video. It’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and refreshes at a silky 165Hz, making scrolling and animations feel effortless.

In any case, on the camera side, the 15R could have the same specs as the OnePlus 15, including a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). It’s likely to be joined by an 8MP ultra-wide, while the front may house a 16MP selfie camera tucked inside a center punch-hole cutout.

As for power, leaks suggest the OnePlus 15R will pack a 7,800mAh battery with 120W SuperVOOC wired charging. If that holds true, it wouldn’t be the first time OnePlus opted for a larger battery on the R variant, though, like before, it seems wireless charging may still be missing from the mix.

Color options are expected to include Black, Flash White, and Quicksilver, each with a polished finish that complements the frame’s metallic tone. Up top, you’ll find multiple openings for microphones and what’s likely an IR blaster, something we don’t often see on OnePlus devices.

If these specs pan out, the OnePlus 15R could go head-to-head with devices like the iQOO 15, Realme GT 8, and Redmi K90 Pro, all of which aim to deliver flagship-grade performance at a more approachable price. Where OnePlus might edge ahead is in software optimization and display quality, where OxygenOS and OnePlus screens have historically held their own.

Final thoughts

Leaks aside, the OnePlus 15R looks like another strong entry in the brand’s R lineup, a phone that borrows just enough from the flagship tier to feel premium, without crossing into full-blown luxury pricing. And if OnePlus keeps its usual rhythm, the official launch should come with the OnePlus 15’s debut in China. Until then, the 15R might just be the most refined “Ace in disguise” we’ve seen from OnePlus yet.
