For as long as I can remember, I've always had to "Google" something. Even the word itself became interchangeable with searching the internet.
But recently, between the constant AI summaries, Gemini integrations, and how much Chrome likes to eat through my laptop memory, I started craving a new experience outside Google Search.
So, I ended what felt like a long-term relationship and decided to give DuckDuckGo a chance.
At first, I expected it to feel like a downgrade. After all, Google has spent decades becoming the default gateway to the internet, owning about 90% of global search engine referrals, while DuckDuckGo, with a 0.7% share, has mostly been known as the "privacy search engine."
