Meta AI can now help you edit your videos
Meta enters the AI video editing scene with flashy presets and built-in social reach.
Editing videos with AI isn’t exactly groundbreaking anymore, but it seems Meta is just catching up to the party, or maybe they’ve run out of ideas for Meta AI.
On Wednesday, Meta announced it’s rolling out new video editing capabilities for Meta AI, giving users the ability to apply preset transformations to short clips with surprising ease.
These tools are available across the Meta AI app, the Meta.ai website, and Meta’s new CapCut-style editor, Edits. You don’t need to be a professional editor to use it, all you have to do is select from over 50 preset prompts, and your video will be edited in seconds.
If you want to transform your casual video into a retro background or even turn yourself into an anime character, it’s all possible with Meta AI now. While it seems cool, the tool only works on the first 10 seconds of a video, nothing more.

The presets feel familiar, like Instagram filters, and this is no surprise, as Meta says it gathered feedback from creators to craft presets that are playful, and easy to apply. You can also share your edited clips directly to Instagram and Facebook, or post them in the Discover feed inside the Meta AI app.
However, for now, creativity is limited to the available presets. You can't type your text prompts to guide the editing process, yet, though Meta says this functionality will arrive later in the year. That future upgrade could make the experience much more dynamic, allowing you to fine-tune your edits with natural language commands instead of choosing from a fixed set of options.
While the AI results might not always match Meta’s polished demos, as there have been reports from some users of odd visual artifacts or slightly uncanny effects, it is still a significant leap forward in accessible video creation.
Although Meta is very late with the feature, the availability, however, positions it to compete directly with similar AI tools being developed by Google and startups like Captions, especially with the advantage of a built-in social network to amplify and share the results instantly.
