Most of us met the AI boom through a chatbot.

Maybe it was ChatGPT, Claude, or one of the dozens of AI tools that have now become part of work, school, or everyday life.

But behind those products, a small group of companies quickly became some of the most valuable private businesses in the world, creating enormous wealth for venture capital firms and early investors.

Now, that may be starting to change. Within days of each other, OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX have all moved closer to the public markets, representing more than $3.5 trillion in combined private-market value.

This week, David looked at why some of the world's most valuable private companies are turning to Wall Street and what it could mean for the next phase of the AI boom.
