Minior has arrived in Pokémon GO, giving players a new Pokémon to hunt during special meteor shower events. Minior debuted in Pokémon GO on October 19, 2026, but you can only find it under specific conditions rather than through regular wild encounters.

Instead, Minior encounters are tied to specific meteor shower events throughout the year. During these periods, players have an increased chance of encountering Minior in the wild, with each event introducing a different core colour.

That means you'll need to keep track of the event schedule if you want to collect all seven variants. Minior also has a battle mechanic that lets it break out of its outer shell to reveal its coloured core, making it different from Pokémon that keep the same appearance throughout a fight.

Here's how to catch Minior in Pokémon GO, when the next meteor showers take place, how its forms work, and what we know about its shiny availability.

Popular Pokémon Halloween items are already selling out. Here’s where to shop the 2026 collection and what to know before you buy.

1. How to Get Minior in Pokémon GO

The easiest way to catch Minior is to play Pokémon GO during one of its scheduled meteor shower events.

Unlike Pokémon that regularly appear in the wild, Minior is tied to specific event windows. During these periods, it can appear on the map in its Meteor Form, giving you a chance to tap it and begin a catch encounter.

Here's what to do:

  1. Open Pokémon GO during an active Minior meteor shower event.
  2. Play between 5 PM and 11:59 PM at your local time, when the event is active.
  3. Check the map for Minior and tap it to start an encounter.
  4. Use a Razz Berry if you want to improve your chances of catching it.
  5. Catch as many as you can while the event is running, especially if you're trying to collect different core colours.

The official event announcement also confirms that Minior encounters will be boosted during the meteor showers. You'll receive additional Stardust for catching Minior, giving you another reason to make the most of each event.

One thing to keep in mind is that the meteor shower events run across several days, rather than just a single evening. The exact start and end dates matter, so check the schedule below before planning your next catching session.

2. Pokémon GO Minior Meteor Shower Schedule

Niantic has announced six meteor shower periods for Minior's debut and subsequent core-colour releases. The events run from October 2026 through August 2027.

Here is the announced schedule:

  • Starts at 5 PM on August 10 and ends at 11:59 PM on August 15, local time.

You can find the full announcement on the official Pokémon GO website.

Each meteor shower introduces one of Minior's different core colours. The Geminids event is particularly worth watching because the colour debut will differ between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

During each event, the in-game sky will also feature shooting stars between 5 PM and 9 PM local time. These visual effects accompany the increased chance of encountering Minior in the wild.

3. How to Change Minior's Form in Pokémon GO

Minior doesn't evolve into another Pokémon, but it does have different forms that affect how it looks and performs in battle.

When you encounter Minior, it will initially be in Meteor Form, covered by a brown outer shell. Once its HP falls to 50% or below during an eligible battle, the shell breaks open to reveal its core.
