Gamescom 2026 is almost here, and after a summer packed with major announcements, the world's biggest gaming convention is preparing to deliver even more reveals, gameplay footage, and surprises.
With E3 now a thing of the past, Gamescom has increasingly become one of the most important events on the gaming calendar. Its massive public presence, packed show floor, and Opening Night Live showcase make it a prime destination for publishers looking to reveal what's next. This year's event is shaping up to be particularly huge, with several highly anticipated games already confirmed to appear.
From the conclusion of a legendary Final Fantasy VII trilogy to the return of Geralt and a new Persona remake, here are seven games we're most excited to see at Gamescom 2026.

/1. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
Perhaps the biggest game to watch is Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the highly anticipated conclusion to Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy.
Following its reveal at Summer Game Fest, fans won't have to wait long for another look. Director Naoki Hamaguchi is expected to take the stage during Opening Night Live and reveal more about the RPG's ambitious finale.
Details remain scarce, which makes the Gamescom appearance even more intriguing. Fans are hoping for an extended gameplay presentation, while speculation has also suggested that a playable demo could be available on the show floor. Whether that happens or not, a firm release window would certainly make the presentation one of the biggest moments of Gamescom.
/2. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past
It's still hard to believe that CD Projekt Red is preparing a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt more than a decade after the original game's release. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will receive a fresh look during Opening Night Live, giving fans their first substantial glimpse at the unexpected return to Geralt's world.
The announcement naturally raises another question: could we also see The Witcher 4? CD Projekt Red hasn't indicated that the upcoming sequel will appear, so expectations should remain in check. Still, Gamescom has a history of surprises, and a brief teaser would undoubtedly send fans into a frenzy.
/3. Fable
Xbox has a lot riding on Fable, especially after a turbulent year for Microsoft's gaming division. Originally expected to arrive in 2026, Playground Games' long-awaited RPG revival has now been pushed to February 23, 2027.
Gamescom will finally give players their first proper look at live gameplay, offering a better idea of how the new Fable is shaping up and whether it can successfully revive one of Xbox's most beloved franchises.
